Family Respite Program

The supported ‘Family Respite Program’ helps participants and their families to reach their goals in real life situations and have a break from the normal routines of life.
The capacity building program will provide opportunities for participants and families to build on independence and resilience within daily living skills and practice their emotional regulation with the encouragement and support of a camp leader/mentor.

Built in throughout the three day, two night mid-week experience is a selection of activities that parent/s and child/ren can participate and connect in together, raising cognitive and physical capacity and create lasting positive social stories and family memories.

Parent and Carers will have the opportunity to engage with their children without the demands of supporting and supervising them. There is also allocated time for parent/carers to have free time!

Through these shared activities and with the support of the leader/mentors a family will be able to strengthen their connection and team working skills. If families are open to sharing their camp experience with other families they will also build new networks and connections.
Camp leader/mentors will be modeling trauma informed playfulness and sessions are available in conflict resolution, managing challenging behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.

The cost of a Family Respite Experience will vary depending on support needs, family dynamics and interests. All costs associated with providing this service to participants of the NDIS are claimable for Self & Plan Managed participants. Additional cost may be claimable depending on plan goals.
