Our Team
All of our carers and teachers are qualified to work with children with special needs and specialise as education professionals with National Police Checks, WWCC and First Aid training. All carers have specific experience in behavioural and emotional management. We want the best for our young people and know that you want to know they are in good hands, so we only employ team members with lived/hands-on experience dealing with kids with higher needs. Our camps will be staffed based on carer ratios according to each child’s person care plan requirements. At a minimum, we will have:
> Camp Directors/Leaders (on call 24/7 for the duration of stay)
> Carers (7.30am – 8.30pm every day and checking in every 2 hours during night)
Camp Adventure Program
Located along the beautiful Great Ocean Road, approximately an 90 minutes from the City, Camp Anglesea has long been one of Australia’s premier Youth Camp Retreat and personal development venues.
Participants will be provided with a tailored social story before their camp, to prepare them for what is ahead. Each day begins with a visual planning session, a yoga session as well as ending each afternoon with reflection downtime.
The fun never stops with a range of engaging activities led by qualified and experienced teachers, leaders and carers. Our camp activities are designed to provide a fun, high-quality camping and recreational experience by enhancing the physical, social, mental well-being of each individual.
Individual Support
We offer 1:1 support and a maximum ration of 1:2. Your child will always be supported by our camp leaders to realise their potential. Campers will receive outstanding high-quality teachers and carers who are equipped, trained and experienced in working with people with a variety of abilities and from culturally diverse backgrounds.
Parents/Carers Program
We can accommodate parents who would like to attend as their child’s specific carer for the duration of the camp. This will be based on certain requirements being met and approved by both Life Skills & Adventures Directors and the parent/ carer. Please contact us for more information regarding this option.
Final night celebration
In addition to making their own tacos, our Silent Social Discos have become a great way for many kids to experience a fun dance party without the anxiety of the loud music. Each headphone has its own volume control so the audio can be as loud or soft (low) as desired. When you take the headphones off, there aren’t any speakers playing music so it’s as if you were just in a room with other people socialising.
Extras
A Life Skills & Adventures jumper for every young person taking part in the camp and a show bag full of goodies to help you enjoy your stay.
